Cornflower – Centaurea cyanus ‘Black Ball’
Cornflower – Centaurea cyanus ‘Black Ball’
Black cornflower seeds for your cutting garden
Not your classic bright blue cornflower but now in a very beautiful dark color.
As a hardy annual, cornflowers benefit greatly from sheltered sowing in a cold greenhouse/conservatory in autumn. This results in taller, sturdier plants in spring. But you can of course also sow them in spring. It is hardy and can withstand frost.
Feel free to keep cutting this plant; this way you always have new stems. The bees love it too.

Tip from Chrisje
Sow in autumn for extra early blooming in spring. The young plants are surprisingly hardy and start growing rapidly as soon as the spring sun appears!
