Delphinium Consolida Ajacis - Chrisje's Mix - (larkspur)

Delphinium Consolida Ajacis - Chrisje's Mix - (larkspur)

Having trouble choosing just one colour of these annual larkspurs? This mix is a lovely alternative: light blue, purple and pink—let yourself be surprised by this colourful mix.

Consolida ajacis, or annual larkspur, looks beautiful in a vase when arranged in abundance and also dries very well. Perfect as a dried flower!
I would place them in the middle to the back of the border, as they grow quite tall.

You can sow this hardy annual in autumn or early spring (February).
They prefer a cold growing period, which results in larger, taller plants. They germinate best at cold temperatures. At temperatures above 13°C, they do not germinate easily. It is therefore best to sow them in a cold, unheated greenhouse. Definitely not on a warm windowsill. Germination takes 2 to 3 weeks. If you do not have a greenhouse, you can also place the seeds in the refrigerator (2°C) for 7 days to encourage germination.

These plants also need some support, for example with this support net, so they do not fall over in wind or heavy rain.
Harvest them when one-third of the flowers are open, and you can expect more than a week of vase life.
