Shiso - Perilla frutescens red

New discovery, ideal as leaf green - but in a deep wine-red shade - shiso or Japanese parsley.

When you make bouquets, you are sometimes looking for leafy greens and this one is a very nice one. Shiso, actually an herb mainly used in Asian cuisine. The leaves are therefore edible and taste like mint, basil with a touch of cumin, cloves and citrus.
Harvest the branches when the stems are already a bit firmer (woody), then you have a nice long vase life - 10 to 14 days!

Sowing: Do not cover the seed, as this is a light germinate.
Sow from March - April
